From the beginning, Northland has been more about building relationships than transaction focused. It’s the reason why Northland Associates has been a repeat and referral based business for over 30 years.
Northland Associates had its start in the fall of 1984. Over time, our clients honored us with their repeat business, and referred new clients to us as well. As the years passed, we realized buying a vehicle involved more than just the original price. We started focusing on the bigger picture for our clients financial and transportation decisions. Areas of consideration evolved to acquisition, disposition, depreciation management, and maintenance cycling points (when to buy, when to sell/trade-in), along with financing methods that were equally important. It was through this process that our Transportation Planning focus developed into our current client based business.
Through the years, our business model changed to better suit our clients and our Transportation Planning business. The full scale dealership model in Spring Lake Park that we started with, was replaced with a Business Office Condo in Maplewood with a transportation planning focus.
